Root to Rise

Root to Rise

Trees do it. Buildings too. Grow your ideas, projects, & services from the same playbook.

“Ground all of your offerings and services into the earth grid.

Anchor them to root so that they grow tall and wide.”

[I apologize so sincerely. The above quote is not mine. I heard it or read it somewhere recently and I can’t for the love of me remember who it should be attributed to. So, a big THANK YOU to the invisible “Universal Writers” guild for giving me that quote to use to jump into this piece.]

The idea of needing one’s energy to be grounded securely into the earth (aka root), in order to be able to grow, develop, & progress toward your calling, purpose, or vision (aka rise), is ancient wisdom made modern.

In most of the breathwork and meditations that I guide people through for neuro-regulation and neuro-activation (getting that nervous system stabilized and upgrading…), we start with grounding. For all the other work builds upon grounding. First ground, then expand. First ground, then open. First ground, then build.

Of course we can’t ignore the metaphor with the plant world. A tree first sends its roots deep and wide to stabilize itself against the forces of nature (wind, digging animals, watery sliding soil) and of course to gather nutrients and water into its body. Also, those roots form communities of security, strength, and messaging through chemical or wave-like energetic means. The foundation. The rooting.

Once the stage is set down below the soil, everything up top (the trunk, limbs, twigs, leaves, buds, flowers, fruit, seeds) knows that they are good to go to do their thing. Which, as it just so happens, usually involves some kind of upward extension. The rising.

The soil is essential to the fruit.

The foundation is essential to the upper levels.

The body is essential to the spirit.

Physical matter is essential to etheric energy.

Nutritional building blocks are essential to higher intellectual functioning.

The pylons are essential to the bridge span.

There are probably 100’s of others that I could draw on for illustration. But you get the point.

I am bringing this up because the energy is already there. It’s patterned. Scaffolded into a norm. We know this culturally, intuitively, and intellectually.

Foundation —> growth —> something worth something.

We can utilize energy forms that are in the collective awareness like this in visualizations to structure our own energy needs on. Your energy system, by way of your brain, already knows the fundamentals of rooting to rise. It’s a common pattern in nature – in both the physical and the non-physical.

As the disembodied quote up above instructs us to do, imagine a grid covering the earth. A mesh web. A blanket of structure. Nodes and lines laid out in a regularly repeating pattern. But remember, it’s energetic. It’s not touchable or movable. Although it does move and it does have flexibility and pliability.

In your imagination, pick a spot nearby in nature. Take a shovel and dig down through the grid deep into the soil below until a hole forms. Into that hole drop an idea that you want to develop and grow. Actually watch it dropping out of your head and into the hole. Or drop a project that you’ve finished and that is now ready to reach an audience. Drop services or products you are trying to sell. Drop your creations. Drop your passions. Drop a dream or two. Whatever you would like to be held firmly by the earth’s embrace as it reaches up and out, tall and wide, to reach an endpoint, place that now into your hole. It might be the size of a seed, a sapling, a start. Stick it in the earth.

Cover it with dirt in your mind. Watch as the undulating wispy form of the energy grid settles over and around what you’ve planted. The grid is like the mulch or the frost fabric or the screening that you lay next to the soil to prevent disturbance by weeds, animals, unknown garden forces.

The earth grid anchors your ideas so that they are safely grounded. Once grounded, root splay happens. Once the roots splay, the project will grow on its own – without much input from you. A little nurturance may be needed, but just the basics of care. By anchoring your desires into the earth, you are allowing the natural forces that govern all foundation-to-pinnacle growth patterns, to facilitate bringing them into full fruition.

Anchor as many things as you’d like. Entrusting the earth with the horticulture of your ideas should feel amazing. You don’t have to do this all on your own. You are SOURCED. There are natural systems in place to orchestrate what you need. And neither your brain, nor the energy web of the Universe knows the difference between what is being visualized inside of you and what is occurring in “reality”.

By applying the powerful imagery of root to rise, you use your mind to bring matter into being.

Cool magic, or just another day in the life?

Let me know what you are grounding into the earth grid for growth this spring.

Warmly,

Julie

Julie and Aarti Soorya Discuss the power of Yoga Nidra

Yoga nidra is so cool! It’s like the ultimate healing method for those of us who are tired of doing & trying stuff. But we know we need attention. We know our bodies are loudly demanding that something’s gotta give. Sometimes healing or becoming healthy feels like so much effort. Maybe yoga nidra is the answer to the lazy woman’s prayers! ha-ha I sat down with my friend and colleague, Dr. Aarti Soorya, to discuss healing, yoga nidra, the nervous system, and conscious awareness - the ven...

So many times I have written "your body is trying to get your attention" when trying to illustrate that someone's physical symptom or sensation is not coincidental. It's not a random out-of-the-blue occurrence when X person develops Y condition. I'm not saying we consciously make things happen to ourselves. I'm not saying it's someone's fault when they get sick. And I'm not saying that illness persists because you're weak in some way. What I am saying is that the body responds. The body...

Dear Reader, A big realization that I've had recently is that if I want you to hear, resonate with, and join me in doing this deep work of awakening to your true self, then I have to be doing the exact same work simultaneously. Not similar, parallel work. The EXACT same. Because the clearest way to guide you into the moment when you're face-to-face with that thing that you feel when you're yearning for meaningful change, is to do it in my system first. As my body experiences what it's like to...
