Some people absolutely delight me. Others make my skin crawl. Vibes and chemistry? Perhaps. Each of them a mirror to something I need to see? DING DING DING!!What you see in others that you like, you like because that is also in you. What you see in others that you abhor, you dislike because that too is also in you. We reflect our true nature to and through each other. And if we are willing to meet the good qualities with humbleness and the negative qualities with grace and awareness, then not only do we come to know ourselves better, but we also advance our collective consciousness. For the divine within us wants only to observe itself consciously and to know that it is whole. Examining Other People through the Lens of Oneness. What ‘oneness’ means is that we are all ‘one’. An odd assembly of characters all pressed into one consciousness, like crumbs of playdoh picked up by the master blob rolling across the table. Of the same being. Of the same essence. Of the same spirit. Of the same mind. Of the same body? Not sure about that one! If all we are is consciousness observing itself, then when I look at you, I should see me. When I look at her and him and them, I should see me. So, too, when you look at me, and he/she/they look at me, you all should see yourselves. Physically this makes no sense at all and we could argue to the moon and back that we look different and are different and don’t you remember the old axiom “no two blades of grass…. and no two snowflakes…” But on every other level of existence besides the physical, we can apply this oneness. (Probably the physical too; I’m just too dense to conceptualize it at this moment.) It’s super interesting when you stop during an interaction and say ‘hey, what I’m observing in that person is only because it’s present in me too.’ Try this when you are respecting someone. Feeling sorry for someone. Feeling jealous of someone. Loving someone’s vibe. Mad as hell at someone’s gall or stupidity. Feeling the pain of someone’s suffering. Laughing so hard with someone that your belly tightens and your breath comes in gasps. And especially when you are at a total loss, not able to understand where they’re coming from at all. Next, try this for people who you see in the news or on social media – not your friends, but people you know in name or by reputation or fame only. Because, my friend, those stars, politicians, and jokers are also you – all part of the glorious oneness. It’s no coincidence that the mental man on the bus caught your attention or that you were fascinated by the way the belly dancer moved. Same with your favorite teacher… and the dreaded bully? Yep! We notice people and bring them into our worlds because they reflect to us what needs our attention inside; what we need to learn about ourselves; or what is worth celebrating or remedying within ourselves. What changes when you view the people around you from this lens of oneness? Let me know! With warmth and light, Julie Hey! Did you know you could work with me one-on-one? I'm a mind/body healing practitioner, consciousness educator, and inspired coach. I write about how awareness of your mindset and emotional state impacts your health and vitality. I believe that the “New Medicine” that awakened humans have already begun moving toward is based in the wisdom of nature, the power of self-healing, and the resonance of energy medicine. Your light shines brightest when you are strong, healthy, and free in body, mind, and spirit. Additionally, in my healing practice, I assist women in their mid-life transition, who have put themselves last for far too long, awaken to their most potent true Self by bringing awareness to their body with intention & listening presence. I invite you to follow along by subscribing or checking out some of my services and products. Thank you!
Yoga nidra is so cool! It’s like the ultimate healing method for those of us who are tired of doing & trying stuff. But we know we need attention. We know our bodies are loudly demanding that something’s gotta give. Sometimes healing or becoming healthy feels like so much effort. Maybe yoga nidra is the answer to the lazy woman’s prayers! ha-ha I sat down with my friend and colleague, Dr. Aarti Soorya, to discuss healing, yoga nidra, the nervous system, and conscious awareness - the ven...
So many times I have written "your body is trying to get your attention" when trying to illustrate that someone's physical symptom or sensation is not coincidental. It's not a random out-of-the-blue occurrence when X person develops Y condition. I'm not saying we consciously make things happen to ourselves. I'm not saying it's someone's fault when they get sick. And I'm not saying that illness persists because you're weak in some way. What I am saying is that the body responds. The body...
Dear Reader, A big realization that I've had recently is that if I want you to hear, resonate with, and join me in doing this deep work of awakening to your true self, then I have to be doing the exact same work simultaneously. Not similar, parallel work. The EXACT same. Because the clearest way to guide you into the moment when you're face-to-face with that thing that you feel when you're yearning for meaningful change, is to do it in my system first. As my body experiences what it's like to...
